The word Traust comes from the Old Norse word for "trust". Vikings used the word as a noun and it represented a central meeting place. The Traust was a central place in Viking towns and cities that was used as a gathering place. A fire was kept burning to cook on, there was beer and mead, and all your favorite Viking friends. They called it the "Traust" because you could trust that you would have a good time and because it was a "safe place"- no warring Vikings allowed & leave your axe at the door!

Traust Brewing Co is a woman and veteran-owned family-run brewpub in Mount Holly, NC. The first beer was brewed in the fall of 2020 out of a small warehouse in Charlotte, NC. In the early days, all of the beer was put into cans and kegs and sold to bars and restaurants in the Charlotte area. In the summer of 2021, Traust purchased an awesome building in downtown Mount Holly, NC. In the spring of 2022, the brewery moved to Mount Holly too! The brewpub in Mount Holly (#MOHO) offers elevated brewpub food with a Nordic flare, #yournewfavorite beer, wine, cocktails, ciders, seltzers, and non-alcoholic beverages.
