All kinds! We love experimenting with traditional ingredients and methods, but we also love perfecting classic styles and playing off the innovations of other great breweries around the world. You’ll find something familiar and something different with each and every one of our brews. We use the dynamic Norwegian farmhouse Kveik yeast varietals as our “house” yeast, but you can also expect some familiar notes from more traditional strains as well.
Absolutely! We have the fortune of having a very diverse team of brewers who will be collaborating to bring all styles to the taproom. We love contemporary styles such as hazy IPAs, sours, and saisons, but we want to offer something for everyone. From the phenolic fig of a balanced barleywine to the robust roast of a dry stout to the more subtle malt of a crisp rye lager, there will surely be something for the malt-pleasing palate.
Though we really want to give an exact opening date, the timeline of a project of this scale is unpredictable. We are targeting a Winter 2020 opening with several weeks of soft- and limited-opening days as we hone in our operating model and find the most efficient and effective ways to bring you the best experience possible.

Traust Brewing has a full kitchen and will offer foods that we feel will go well with our beer offerings. Expect smaller plates in a quick casual atmosphere where we will encourage our patrons to create their own experience. We will offer traditional and Scandi-inspired options, as well as some Northern European flavors that may be completely new to an American palate.
Yes. We recognize that Wesley Heights and Charlotte are brimming with families looking to engage with their communities. We aim to provide a safe space for parents and well-mannered children to explore the many benefits of the craft beer community that don’t necessarily involve beer. Look for child-friendly menu items until 7 PM, non-alcoholc drink options, and a designated family area on the patio where young ones can enjoy themselves.
We absolutely welcome well-behaved, leashed pets of all breeds on the patio. Due to health department regulations, we do not allow pets in the taproom at this time. However, we will make every effort to bring the taproom experience to the patio as completely as we possibly can. We look forward to meeting your furry friends!
Music and beer are a perfect pairing. Traust Brewing is looking to bring a musical experience that accentuates the experience of the taproom in a synergistic way. A small stage will allow us to bring in small acts without disrupting the ambiance for those looking for a quieter time with friends. We will also be looking to bring in talent in support of larger events that will overflow into the parking lot, the patio serving as a natural amphitheater and raised balcony.
As the Traust concept aims to bring new Scandinavian flavors to Charlotte, the music will have a world flair as well. The tempo of venue music will shift along with that of the taproom. You might not recognize any of it, but you will love all of it.
Yes, the patio is South-facing, meaning it will get plenty of sun. Patrons will benefit from efficient heating and cooling as the seasons change. Expect heating elements in the winter and cooling in the summer. Are the elements not to your liking? We have designed the taproom experience to be just as entertaining as the patio when nature doesn’t cooperate. Bring your sunglasses for daytime patio enjoyment and relax and take in the western view of the city in the evening.
The patio and taproom are both handicap accessible. We will make every effort to ensure each patron can enjoy all facets of the Traust Brewing experience as we have intended.
